Practice Description - Grievance mediation and workplace investigation. Work is generally conducted via videoconference; however, at the request of the parties I will conduct in-person mediations or investigations. On request, evening meetings can be scheduled. Meetings can be held in either English or French.
Background - I have recently completed a thirty-two-year career in Labour Relations focusing on the resolution of workplace disputes. During my career, I was deeply involved in workplace law issues in a wide variety of workplaces under both Federal and Provincial jurisdiction. I conducted more than two hundred arbitration hearings and countless sets of collective bargaining, and believe I gained a good reputation for proficiency in labour arbitration. I frequently assisted workplace parties in resolving complex and difficult issues, and developed a deep understanding of the characteristics of employers, employees, and unions. It became apparent to me that wherever possible, dispute resolution and self-determination are the best way forward for workplace parties. In my mediation practice, I leverage my knowledge of the grievance arbitration process and my understanding of the characteristics of workplace parties to assist them in achieving equitable, timely and cost-effective resolution of grievance disputes. I am currently pursuing additional training through the ADR Institute of Ontario to hone my mediation skills.
