Background - Michelle Flaherty is a professor at the University of Ottawa's faculty of law where, since July 2012, she has taught labour law, administrative law and human rights law. She is a former vice-chair of the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario and currently has a private mediation, arbitration, and investigation practice. Michelle clerked with Justice L’Heureux-Dubé of the Supreme Court of Canada. A member of the Law Society of Upper Canada since 2001, Michelle has extensive professional experience practicing labour law, administrative law, human rights, and constitutional law. During the course of her career, she has acted for both unions and employers. In 2011, Michelle was inducted into the University of Ottawa Common Law Honours Society for her service to the law school and the profession.
