Practice Description - Mark Hart is a mediator and arbitrator specializing in employment, labour and human rights disputes.
Background - Mark Hart has over 25 years of experience in alternative dispute resolution as a mediator and adjudicator, and over 30 years of experience dealing with human rights, employment and labour issues.

From 2007 to 2019, Mark was a Vice-Chair at the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario, where he conducted hundreds of mediations and hearings primarily in the employment and labour sectors.

As a mediator, Mark uses an analytical and evaluative approach, while looking for common interests and creative solutions. He was one of the most effective mediators at the Tribunal. He is highly skilled in resolving complex and difficult cases, cases involving multiple parties, and cases where the parties have an ongoing relationship.

As an adjudicator, Mark has been a leader in developing and employing active adjudication techniques to shorten hearings, save costs and achieve timely outcomes, while promoting and preserving fairness for all parties. He handled some of the most complex and challenging cases at the Tribunal in a timely and effective manner.

Mark has spoken extensively on human rights, employment, mediation, and active adjudication issues, and has taught on these issues at Osgoode Hall Law School and the Society of Ontario Adjudicators and Regulators.
