Background - Ms. Smith is on the Federal Minister's List of approved Grievance Arbitrators, Unjust Dismissal Adjudicators, and Wage Recovery Referees under the Canada Labour Code, and a Vice-Chair at the Workplace Safety and Insurance Appeals Tribunal, where she is currently the Vice-Chair Registrar.

Ms. Smith practiced for many years in labour and employment law prior to commencing her practice as an arbitrator and mediator. She has an MSW, is a Registered Social Worker, and provided counselling services in a family service setting for over 15 years prior to pursuing a career in labour and employment law.
