Background - Since her call to the bar in 1991, Janice has practiced almost entirely in the areas of employment law and workplace human rights. Initially, she was an advocate, representing both employees and employers. Over time, her practice included a heavy focus on workplace investigations, assessments and mediation. Janice is now a full time neutral, where she brings her deep experience with a vast array of workplaces, both union and non-unionized, and her understanding of workplace disputes and conflict, to the work that she does.

In addition to her legal and mediation training, Janice has completed negotiation and leadership training through Harvard (executive programs), she has taught employment law at Osgoode Hall, and she has written and spoken about workplace issues in many forums.

Janice's contributions to the legal profession, and to the workplace, have been recognized by her peers and her community. She was named by Canadian Lawyer as one of the 25 most influential lawyers of 2023, in 2025, she received the Law Society Medal of Ontario, and in 2026, she received the YWCA of Toronto's Distinction Award. She has also been regularly listed in Best Lawyers in Canada, Lexpert, and Martindale-Hubbell.
